Within MERCURY, she focuses on the role of the EU in formal multilateral organisations, in particular on the EU’s contribution to the UN collective security system.

Nicoletta Pirozzi is research fellow in the European Affairs area at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome, working on EU civilian crisis management, policy and institutional developments in CFSP/ESDP and EU relations with other security organisations (UN, NATO AU). She has been research fellow within the European Foreign and Security Policy Studies Programme and visiting fellow at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris. Previously, she was Project Officer responsible for the Responding to Conflict programme area at the International Security Information Service (ISIS) Europe in Brussels. She also collaborated with the Italian Permanent Representation to the EU and the European Parliament in Brussels. She graduated in Political Science at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa. She also obtained a MSc Degree in European Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium).
